![]() However, once you get deep into the series and find out that Amestris is run by Father and the Homunculi, you look back on this first episode and McDougal very differently and feel bad for him when he tries to expose the secrets the Military is hiding, but nobody listens. At this point, we, the audience, have no idea what this crazy dude is blathering on about and his death is quite satisfying at the end as we don't know how sinister Bradley is when he is killed by him. In the episode he appears in, he is shown to be a former State Alchemist, hellbent on taking down the Amestrian Military and Fuhrer King Bradley himself. In terms of character, I don't have much to say about him, but he is an effective filler villain for the first episode and does a good job of setting up the conflict of the story. He was the antagonist of the first episode in Brotherhood which served as a filler to introduce us to the characters and world before revealing the backstory of Ed and Al in the second episode where the plot really gets going. Let's start with Isaac McDougal! For people who don't remember this guy, he was a character created for Brotherhood and was not in the Manga or the 2003 adaptation. FMAB has some of the most well-written, well-rounded, and overall amazing villains in all of Anime, and this blog is dedicated to going through each one, whether it be the Homunculi themselves or some of the minor one-episode villains who still leave an impact regardless of their screentime! Now, let's get this party started! However, the aspect I love most about this series and I think doesn't get enough attention is the villains. ![]() It also has exceptional music, animation, and themes, with so many interesting philosophical questions that are satisfactorily answered by the end so the series feels complete and whole, which is rare to find in most Anime these days, where everything comes together in the end with no loose ends. ![]() It has one of the best main casts I've ever seen, with so many unique and distinct characters who somehow all come together and don't make the story bloated. It is one of the most iconic Anime of all time and there are many reasons why. In the Anime community, you would be hard-pressed to find anyone who hasn't seen it. Ah yes, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. ![]()
